Courtney Wylie is the proud owner of barre3 Wake Forest. She discovered barre3 back in 2008 when she heard Sadie Lincoln on a talk show talking about exercise for people who hate high impact cardio. She started with the DVD’s since barre3 studios in the Midwest and East Coast were nonexistent. She explored other workouts over the years, always coming back to barre3. She wished there were studios near her to take an in-person class. She knew she wanted to open a studio one day so that people near her could experience the barre3 exercises and environment that made her feel strong and mentally uplifted. Previously, Courtney was a lawyer working in both the private and public sector. After practicing law, she began developing programs to promote mindfulness in law firms and how they support young lawyers. Her experiences with demanding hours, stressful environments, and love of learning bring a new awareness to the importance of being balanced in mind and body. She hopes to bring this understanding to the Wake Forest community through barre3. In her free time, she loves to read, travel, care for her horse- Gavin, and spend time with her adorable nephews. You can often see her around the studio wearing her iconic, “I hate running” shirt.
Samantha Wylie is the proud co-owner of barre3 Wake Forest, NC. Sam is newer to barre3 only recently finding in 2024. A few months after the birth of her second son, she joined her sister for a class looking to dip her toe back into exercise again. She was anxious and worried about starting to exercise again, especially while working to recover from diastasis recti. The instructor was so welcoming, checked in on her, and offered modifications for her postpartum body. While she did not feel the most graceful in the class, she did feel happy to be getting back to a place where she was regaining a sense of ownership over her body. She loved the authenticity of the instructors who made exercise fun while also making her laugh at times. She and her sister were inspired to bring a barre3 to the community of Wake Forest. Previously, Sam worked as a Trauma therapist specializing in Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD in the military population and their families. After the birth of her first son, she also started working with mom’s experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She has spent years advocating for the positive benefits of exercise, community, and connection. She brings a love of learning and empathic awareness to meet yourself where you are at and learning to feel at peace in your own body and mind. In her free time, she loves to read, explore the outside rain or shine, work on DIY projects, teach psychology, and prioritizes time with her two adorable boys and her husband.
