Sandy Grimes

Sandy Grimes is a healthcare-executive turned barre3 owner. After retiring from an exceptional career with Johnson & Johnson, she began to focus on her avid interest in exercise and health, as well as giving back to her community. Finally, with some free time to evaluate options, she found that she was healthier and more energized with the balance she found at barre 3. The connection, the community, and the healthy results she found at barre3 sparked her to involve her daughter, Stephanie. Both Sandy and Stephanie became quickly hooked, and now they're excited to become co-owners of barre3 Philadelphia and continue their healthy, happy journey together.

Stephanie Grimes

Hi, I am Stephanie Grimes and first discovered barre3 in 2014 while working as a nurse at Penn. My mom and co-owner Sandy brought me to my first class and I knew immediately that this was something special. What drew me to barre3 initially was the heart-pumping workout and inclusive community. What keeps me coming back is my love of learning. barre3 has taught me endlessly about body wisdom, mental strength, mindfulness, and so much more. Years later, we embarked on the journey of being the first mother-daughter duo to open a barre3 studio. We are passionate about building a team and community that supports one another in becoming their own best teachers all the while moving our bodies in a way that fun and empowering.

barre3 Philadelphia - Rittenhouse Square | Barre Classes on Sansom Street

Rittenhouse Square anchors this stretch of Center City—barre3 Philadelphia - Rittenhouse Square sits two blocks east, at 15th and Sansom, a few doors from Oyster House, the seafood counter that's been shucking at 1516 Sansom Street since 1976 and picked up a James Beard America's Classics Award in 2026. Sansom Street carries a dense, walkable run of independent restaurants, bars, and boutiques through Center City, and the leafy square itself is ringed with cafés and brownstones, a favorite spot for a pre- or post-class stroll. Drop in before dinner down the block, or keep barre3 in your weekly rotation.

Our barre3 Philadelphia - Rittenhouse Square studio offers everything you need for a balanced practice. Barre3 Signature blends strength, cardio, and mindfulness into one complete full-body workout, using the barre, core ball, and weights to build strength, increase flexibility, and sharpen balance. B3 Strength is the deeper muscle work—heavier weights and slow, deliberate movement that builds the kind of strength you feel in your everyday life. B3 Cardio brings the heat—a high-energy, full-body push that leaves you feeling accomplished and clear-headed, not wiped out. B3 Mindful Flow uses breath-driven movement to restore your body and build the mobility and ease your body needs to keep up with your life. You'll leave feeling stronger and more capable than when you walked in. Every fitness level is welcome.
